Super Swimmers

Three University School students who recently competed in USA Swimming's Central Zone Championship placed in the top ten in at least one event. Eighth graders Ethan Banks and Graden Snyder, as well as ninth grader Zach Halawa, represented the Lake Erie Zone Team and competed against other swimmers from Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Michigan. The meet was hosted by the Lake Erie Silver Dolphins and took place August 1-3 at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio.

Only swimmers who achieve AAA National Age Group Standards are eligible to participate in this highly competitive event, which draws more than 1000 participants.

In the 11-12 year age boys group, Graden Snyder placed 10th in 50 Breaststroke; 10th amongst both the 200 and 400 Medley Relay Teams, and 10th in the 400 Free Relay Team.

In the 13-14 year age boys group, Ethan Banks placed 7th in the 800 Freestyle; 10th in the 400 Freestyle, and 5th in the 1500 Freestyle. Ethan also earned First Speedo Sectional Cut.

In the 13-14 year age boys group, Zach Halawa placed 9th amongst the 200 Free Relay Team; 2nd in the 200 Medley Relay Team, and 10th in the 400 Free Relay Team.
