Budding Biomedical Scientists

Congratulations to Keyvon Rashidi of Pepper Pike who has been awarded the Mark A. Smith, Ph.D Memorial prize for Outstanding Scientific Achievement from Case Western Reserve University's School of Medicine.

Keyvon was one of five University School students who participated in the school's Scientific Enrichment and Opportunity Program. The rigorous eight-week program provides students with a professional experience in the sciences and brings them in contact with the School of Medicine faculty and students for both academic and career mentoring.

Keyvon was joined by Omer Ashruf of Solon, Sharan Bhatia of Macedonia, Rohan Garg of Shaker Heights, and Graham Lane of Gates Mills. They conducted research on the role of antibodies, cancer and tumor suppressing treatments, and malaria immunity and treatment.

The five students take part in University School's Anderson Scholar Program in Science which enables students with a passion for medicine, physics, outdoor biology, and other sciences to pursue these areas in greater depth.
