Bald Boys!

Over 80 students, teachers and parents at University School's Shaker Campus recently shaved their heads to raise over $50,000 for St. Baldrick's Foundation, which makes grants to research institutions to find new cures for childhood cancer. Stylists from Funke Hair, Body and Soul donated their time to do the shaving.

This is the sixth year that US has hosted a St. Baldrick’s celebration. US is one of the top fundraising teams in the Cleveland area. In the past five years, Team US has shaved over heads and raised over $275,000.

Since the first St. Baldrick's event in 2000, over $277 million has been raised nationally for childhood cancer research.

Worldwide, a child is diagnosed with cancer every three minutes. Despite tremendous progress, cancer remains the number one disease killer of children in the U.S.

Since 2005, St. Baldrick's has awarded over $154 million for childhood cancer research, and now funds more childhood cancer research grants than any other organization, except the U.S. government.
