US Senior Receives National Scholar-Athlete Award

University School senior Tyler Wasser received the National Football Foundation Scholar Athlete Award at the 75th Annual Awards Spring Banquet. The event honored 27 football scholar athletes from 15 counties in Northeast Ohio.

Tyler was recognized as a 3-year two-way starter for US, Team Captain, 2014 MVP, 1st Team All-Conference, 1st Team All District, Special Mention All State Team, and All Ohio Academic Team.

Tyler also plays varsity baseball, varsity basketball, chaired Relay for Life, and is a member and officer of the Daniel LoPresti Philanthropic Board. He was recognized for his volunteer work with the Adapted Football Program through the Achievement Centers for Children, and with the homeless in Greater Cleveland.

Tyler will continue his academics and play football at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the fall, studying engineering and economics.

The event also honored Jim Tressel with the Distinguished American Award and Urban Meyer as the Ohio College Coach of the Year.
