Innovators Wanted!

We are launching a junior kindergarten through grade 12 and community-wide experience in hands-on immersion that could take a variety of forms and ultimately be included in a community-wide showcase on our website.

Students and other US community members are invited to take part in a project in one of three areas:

  • Art & Design

    • Create a drawing, painting, or sculpture in a medium of your choice.
    • Design and build a piece of furniture, space, or a model of a larger functional object
    End Product: A video, photograph, or CAD Illustration of the finished product
  • Music & Theatre

    • Learn a piece of music that you have never done before and perform it on an instrument of choice
    • Perform an a cappella song
    • Write and perform a song of your own
    • Memorize and perform a soliloquy or section of a play that has some meaning for you
    • Perform a song from a musical
    • Write a short skit or dramatic piece that is either performed for the camera or made into a short film
    End Product:  A video of you performing the piece or a film.
  • Innovation & Entrepreneurship

    • Create an idea for a business or a service that will
      • Help local heroes on the front lines fighting Covid-19
      • Make an impact on the world
      • Help students and teachers in this new virtual learning environment
    • Design a new product or improve an existing product
    End Product: A one to five-minute video presentation of your idea, product, or design

Rules & Guidelines

  • Projects may be submitted any time before the submission deadline of Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at 9:00am.
  • No kits may be used, but participants may use any material of their choosing.
  • Thanks to a gift from Jean and Frank Bunts ‘51, grant money may be available for students for supplies delivered to your home. Inquire with your affinity group representative for more information. 
  • While this showcase is for newly created projects, participants may also submit projects previously started that they bring to fruition during this period.
  • Each division will present through a virtual showcase showing examples of works in each of the three categories of participation.
  • A number of submissions will be added to the showcase and some submissions may be edited for length or format.
