National Spanish Exam Awards

University School did extremely well on the National Spanish Exam with 38 students receiving awards, including 11 Gold Award winners who scored at or above the 95th percentile nationally! Six Gold Award winners received special recognition for placing at the top of the state level.

Premio de Oro or Gold Award recipients who earned a place at the state level are Michael Castellanos '19, 1st place in the state on the Level 6 exam for outside experience; Tate Flack '20, 1st place in the state on the Level 6 exam; Kiran Krishnamurthi '19, 1st place in the state on the Level 5 exam; Reed Chen, 3rd place in the state on the Level 5 exam; and Ethan Weber '20, 2nd place in the state on the Level 4 exam; and Stefan Radjenovic, 3rd place in the state on the Level 4 exam. Cole Bowes '19, Jake Nordell '19, and Will Zhang '19 received Gold Awards on the Level 5 exam, Parker Ernst received a Gold Award on the Level 4 exam, and Nathan Mu received a Gold Award on the Level 2 exam. 

Eighteen students received Premio de Plata or Silver Awards by scoring from the 85th percentile through the 94th percentile nationally: Tharoon Balaji '20, Prajwal Guruprasad '20, and Gabe Laskey '19 at Level 5; Ryan Cvelbar '19, Ethan Jiang '21, Rohan Krishnamurthi '21 at Level 4; Justin Iler '20, Krish Malte '21, Samuel Riad '21, Daniel Yan '21, and Correy Zemon '21 at Level 3; and Cyril Andrews '22, Ted Applebaum '22, Alex Devine '22, Ajay Krishnaney '22, Peter McKenna '22, Varun Tamaskar '22, and Jason Williams '22 at Level 2.

Nine students received Premio de Bronce or Bronze Awards by scoring from the 75th percentile through the 84th percentile nationally: Robert Housel '19, Clayton Lovell '19, and Graeme Thomas '19 at Level 5; Jimmy Donohue '20 and Jack Sacks '20 at Level 4; Sean Holmes '21, Jonathan Jang '21, and Sohum Kapadia '21 at Level 3; and Richard Hollington '22 at Level 2.
