Dr. Michael Smith Outstanding Earth Science Teacher

Congratulations to upper school science teacher Dr. Michael Smith who has been named Outstanding Earth Science Teacher of the Year for 2019 for the central section of the country! The honor was bestowed upon him by the National Association of Geoscience Teachers and the central section includes Ohio and 7 other states in the Midwest.

According to the NAGT Dr. Smith was “unanimously selected as the overall Central Section winner; we were particularly impressed with your commitment to hands-on inquiry-based learning including data interpretation within your geoscience courses, and your ability to get your students into the field on campus, on local field trips, and on your upcoming week-long summer field course.”
