Nehal Chigurupati '20 Places 2nd in Nation

Congratulations to Nehal Chigurupati '20, who placed second in the nation in Lincoln-Douglas Debate at the National Speech & Debate Association National Tournament last weekend in Texas!

Nehal was the affirmative debater in the resolution: violent revolution is a just response to political oppression. In addition, US was named a "Speech School of Excellence" at the tournament.

Debate Coach Mr. James Lewis '00 said, "The final round at the national tournament is a huge stage and is quite intimidating. Nehal made me proud as a coach and teacher not only because of his strong debating but because of his grace and poise. He represented his family, his school and his team incredibly well."

Seven members of the US Speech & Debate Team qualified to compete at the National Speech & Debate Association National Tournament in June in Dallas, Texas: Arnold von Engelbrechten '19, Abraham Paik '21, Nate Mayor '19, Nehal Chigurupati '20, Sukhm Kang '20, Anish Ganesh '19, and Tim Sullivan ‘19.
