The third annual Read with US week was a resounding success! A celebration of reading and community, the week included reading to therapy dogs, wearing matching T-shirts (designed by Maddox Kuper-Sasse ‘35), spending an entire school day engaged in a relay-style read-a-thon, and learning from award-winning author BarbRosenstock. A special visit with Senior buddies capped off the week for boys in Jr. K through second grade.
Author Barb Rosenstock spent time with all of our Lower School boys. For each grade level, she shared a behind-the-scenes look at the spark that inspired some of her stories, as well as a little about her research and writing process. With the third- and fourth-grade classes, she talked about her book, Otis & Will Discover the Deep. This is atrue tale of two explorers who made the first dive to the deep ocean in 1930, in a metal ball of their own invention, the Bathysphere. The animated Ms. Rosenstock led interactive and hands-on activities to help the boys imagine what this pioneering trip might have felt like.
