Debaters Continue Winning!

The Speech and Debate Team competed at 2 venues this past weekend.
 
At the Hathaway Brown-John Carroll tournament, in Public Forum debate, the team of Anish Ganesh '19 and Dom Fracassa '20 won 1st place. In Lincoln-Douglas debate, Nehal Chigurupati '20 won 1st place. In Big Questions debate, Kurt Ozuner '20 won 2nd place and Wyatt Sweeney '19 won 1st.
 
At the Hugh Downs School of Human Communication Invitational hosted by Arizona State University, in Dramatic Interpretation, Auryon Azar '19 reached the final round and won 5th place out of 96 speakers. The team of Sai Karnati '20 and Daniel Yan '21 and the team of Kiran Krishnamurthi '19 and John DeSantis '20 both made it to the quarterfinals (top 8 out of 225 teams). In Public Forum debate, the team of Nate Mayor '19 and Sukhm Kang '20 advanced to the octafinal round (top 16).  In Lincoln-Douglas debate, Arnold von Engelbrechten '19 and Nick Protasiewicz advanced to the double-octafinal round (top 32 out of 124 debaters).
