Terry Harmon Harvests Birch for Canoe

This summer, Outdoor Projects teacher Mr. Terry Harmon harvested a paper birch skin and cedar tree at Bear Island Reserve in Temagami, Ontario. He brought them back to campus and will build a birchbark canoe with the boys throughout the year. Terry remarked that the lessons of the birchbark canoe and this historical mode of transportation can be applied to the science, math and history curriculum.
