US Rocket Launch Featured on UKTV

Several of the US Rocketry Team members and Coach James Seibyl '83 traveled to the Mohave Desert last fall to launch a rocket they built. The launch was filmed by UKTV for its new travel series hosted by one of Britain’s best-known TV actors, David Jason, in "Planes, Trains & Automobiles.”

The US Rocketry Team finished its highly successful 2018-19 season by qualifying -- for the first time in its short 3-year history -- for the National Finals of the Team America Rocketry Challenge Fly-Off, the largest rocketry contest in the world.

In his television show, Jason, an avid train buff, a pilot, and a trained mechanic, travels 1,300 miles from Seattle to Los Angeles on the iconic Amtrak Coast Starlight train. He makes pit stops along the way, delving into local history, checking out feats of engineering, and riding cable cars and motorbikes, flying vintage airliners, and driving trucks.
