French Scholars Excel

Ryan O'Malley '17 and Keyvon Rashidi '17 were recognized for their excellent mastery of French language and culture at the awards ceremony for the Maison Française de Cleveland Annual Contest held this week.

Currently in its 41st edition, this rigorous competition invites advanced French students from schools in the region to present on an aspect of French culture that matters to them and relates to their future professional plans. Following each oral presentation, the members of the jury interview the candidates to gauge the range and depth of their proficiency in French.

This year, both US students placed on the podium:
Keyvon won 2nd place and Ryan won 3rd place. In his presentation, Keyvon addressed the current investment in nuclear energy and its advantages for the French, while Ryan discussed the merits and relevance of Le Corbusier’s modernist architecture for us today.

Félicitations aux lauréats du Concours!
