Paul Gota '17 Wins State Singles Title!

MASON, Ohio – It was an all Northeastern Ohio Division I final at the 98th annual Boys State Tennis Tournament at the Linder Family Tennis Center.

University School senior Paul Gota edged Solon senior Vlad Rotnov for the state singles title. The match was extremely close as Gota won both sets 7-5.

This was the fifth match between the two players this spring. Rotnov won the first match of the season while Gota won the final four.

“Today was fantastic,” University School coach Chase Thomas said. “It has been 20 years since US has had a singles state champ. It is a great feeling. It’s really nice to have a couple of Northeast Ohio guys that grew up together play for the state title.”
