2020 WINTER SPORTS RECAP SCROLL DOWN TO VIEW

Basketball

The Varsity Basketball Team won its first OHSAA Division I Sectional Title in program history and advanced to the District Semifinals, before falling to Mentor. US won 18 games for the first time in over a decade and swept Gilmour for the first time since 2008. Additionally, Coach McDonnell was recognized as Coach of the Year by the News-Herald for the team's outstanding season. Ben Clegg '20, Ricky Radtke '21, and Asaan Snipes-Rea '21 served as team captains.

Swimming & Diving

Wrapping up another incredibly successful season, the Swimming & Diving Team finished 2nd at the OHSAA Division II State Championship. Nick Tekieli '20 won the 100-yard backstroke while the 400-yard free relay and the 200-yard medley relay finished in 1st Place at the State Meet. Coach Perry was named Coach of the Year by the News-Herald for the team's incredible season. Frank Applebaum '20, Carter Faulkner '20, and Tekieli served as team captains.

Hockey

The Varsity Hockey Team advanced to the District Semifinals after playing a highly competitive schedule during the regular season. US earned keynote wins over Cathedral Prep (PA), Bullis School (MD), and North Allegheny (PA) throughout the year. Jack Borrow '20, Beau O'Sickey '20, Will Cha '20, and John Pape '21 served as team captains.

Varsity Hockey had 13 seniors in 2019-20.

Wrestling

The Varsity Wrestling Team advanced several individuals to the District Championship after facing a highly-competitive schedule during the regular season. US earned keynote wins over Hawken and Bedford throughout the year while traveling to some of the top invitationals across Northeast Ohio. Joe Averill '20 and Sam Olson '20 served at team captains.

Squash

The Varsity Squash Team finished the season with a record of 10-1 and won the finals of the consolation round during the Division V National Championship. US earned impressive wins over Lake Forest Academy (IL), Latin School of Chicago, and St. Luke’s School (CT). Gavin Tallal '20 served as team captain.
