Founded in 1890, University School is a nationally-recognized college preparatory school serving 862 boys, kindergarten through grade 12. The school is a partnership of two campuses in the greater Cleveland area with 455 boys in grades kindergarten through 8 in suburban Shaker Heights and 407 boys in grades 9 through 12 in Hunting Valley.
In the last 5 years, 25% of the senior class has been recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, and 100% of upper school graduates matriculate at four-year colleges and universities. The student/teacher ratio is 8/1, and the average class size in the upper school is 14.
The school’s mission is to develop “promising and motivated boys into accomplished and independent young men who aspire to make a difference in the world” with the belief that “these goals are best achieved in a community where tradition is valued and where every boy is known and loved.” A premier independent school for boys, University School is nationally recognized as a model for boys’ education. As the school fulfills its strategic initiatives, we are looking for individuals who have the knowledge, experience, and drive to be key players in this process.
