    Medieval Spain
    April 2015
    Alex Richter has a passion for foreign languages and is always looking to enhance his knowledge. Not only does he study Spanish and Hebrew, but he has recently developed a probing interest in Arabic. Alex decided to broaden his passion into a fascinating study via the Junior Research Fellows Program. Working extensively with his mentor, Mr. Michael Khoury, Alex explored the languages and cultures of Spain during the Middle Ages. On Tuesday, April 7, Alex shared his newfound knowledge with the middle school.

    My Journey Writing a Short Novel Using The Hero's Journey by Joseph Campbell

    It seems that James Keherly has always had an affinity for writing. As a young boy, he read The Aregon series and The Last Dragon Chronicles, even taking the initiative to engage in email exchanges with author Chris D’Lacy. He’s drawn to writing, he says, because “it is fun, relaxing and I gets immersed in different worlds.”

    The Art of Photography
    One of Akash Salgia’s many passions is photography. Not only is he  dedicated to this art, but he is also becoming very knowledgeable about it. Since  last spring, Akash has taken thousands of pictures, mostly of natural settings at his home and on trips. While viewing them, he became inspired to enhance his favorite ones. So for his Fellows study, Akash decided to delve deeply into creative photography enhancement.

    Green Architecture
    Sean Dolohanty became interested in green architecture at the tender age of 9 while on a trip to Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The rustic, natural environment of the west inspired him and he became interested in ways to preserve it. When he learned that homes could be designed and built as part of preservation efforts, he was intrigued.

Dylan Fellows idea was ambitious from the start: to learn a programming language, then use it to create a code for his own, original program.

    The Science of Improv
    Miguel Martinez certainly is an experienced musician. He has studied the saxophone for three years and the piano for nine years--most of his young life. He has also excelled in many local piano competitions. Through his studies, Miguel has been exposed to many different styles of music, and a favorite of his is jazz. He began appreciating jazz two years ago when he became a student of Mr. Greg Slawson from the Slawson & Lee Piano studio. Mr. Slawson was also his mentor.
