Community Service Projects

This fall, Students and faculty around US volunteered, raised money, and donated essential items to members of our surrounding community.

Shaker Campus
Families at the Shaker Campus came together and donated to the annual Thanksgiving food drive. The Lower School House captains, with the assistance of 8th graders, packed the food into boxes of meals for families. In total, the Shaker Campus donated enough food to pack meals for more than 40 families for the holidays.

Second Grade
Our second-grade boys participated in a walkathon, showcasing their dedication by walking or running laps to raise funds for the senior members residing at the Marc Apartments. As a part of their Communities Around the World Theme, second graders continued their community service projects by packing and decorating over 200 lunches for individuals in need in the Greater Cleveland Area.

Fourth Grade
Boys organized a cycling event around our Lower School playground to raise money for pediatric cancer.

Upper School

Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica Aura
Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica Aura volunteered at Caminata y Feria de Salud Comunitaria, a community health fair and walk in support of the local Hispanic community. This fun family event included a mile walk, craft tables for the children, a free healthy lunch, and Yoga and Zumba workshops. SHH members brought free Spanish-language cookbooks to distribute, and set up a stand to provide information on behalf of our friends at Literacy Cooperative. Students also helped set up for the event, worked at various stands, and enjoyed the mile-long walk around the Club Alma Yaucana.

Hawley House
Students spent a recent autumn Saturday volunteering at the Kid's Book Bank. Boys helped take off stickers and pack books to be distributed around our community.

Cruikshank House
Upper School students packed bags of personal care essentials that families donated for City Mission and the unhoused people it serves.

Murray House
Upper School students and faculty assembled knotted blankets for Lifebanc, which provides services and support for organ recipients and donor family support services.

Sanders House
The members of Sanders House at the Upper School organized a winter clothing drive for the organization Homeless Hookup Cleveland.
