Grades 1-4 Process

Thank you for your interest in University School’s lower school! There is no fee to apply to University School; please take a look at the following application requirements for grades 1-4. Feel free to email Tamara Whitner or call her at 216.371.6807 if you have any questions.

The following steps are part of the application process. You can login to your MYUS account to start your admission journey!

Application
You can access the application form in your admission checklist. We look forward to getting to know your family!

Parent Visit
Click here to schedule a Saturday tour of the school and meet with the admission director so we can learn more about your son and answer your questions.  

Teacher Evaluation
Please click “start” next to this item in your online checklist. You can enter your son’s current teacher’s email address as well as a brief note to him/her requesting they fill out the evaluation form. The teacher will send the form directly back to us.

Personal Recommendation Form
Please click “start” next to this item in your online checklist and then enter the name and email address of someone who knows your son well, is not a member of your family, and preferably (although not required) has worked with him in a group setting (sports team, youth group, etc.). The person you’ve chosen will send the form directly back to us.

Student Screening
You have the option of bringing your son on the same day you tour the school, at which time we will administer a brief picture-based aptitude test. If you would prefer, your initial visit can be just for you, and we can schedule your son’s aptitude test for a different Saturday. Group Evaluation 
Group Evaluations will be scheduled for all grade 1-4 applicants on Saturdays in January. The sessions will consist of socially-distanced activity stations with different teachers. All appropriate COVID 19 safety protocols will be in effect.

School Transcripts
Please click on the word “Transcripts” at the bottom of your checklist to access a downloadable pdf. Fill out and sign the pdf and send it to your son’s current school; they will then send us his transcripts. 


AFFORDING A PRIVATE SCHOOL EDUCATION
The Financial Aid Office at University School aligns with the mission of the school. We hope to provide students an opportunity for an amazing educational experience that may otherwise not be obtainable. Our goal is that no worthy, mission appropriate student be deterred due to financial limitations.
