The National Merit Scholarship Corporation has announced that 13 University School seniors –100% of our Semifinalists – have advanced to Finalist standing in the 2020 National Merit Scholarship Competition.
These young men are among those earning the highest scores in the nation on the 2018 PSAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. The 15,000 National Merit Finalists compete for 7,500 National Merit Scholarships and the prestigious honor of earning the title National Merit Scholar.
Head of School Patrick Gallagher announced six teachers as new chair holders. University School named chair endowments provide the essential support that allows the school to retain outstanding and dynamic faculty by providing additional support and professional development opportunities to its chair holders. University School has 18 funded endowed chairs. Lower, middle, upper school teachers were honored.
Garrett Blum '20 and Parker Ernst '20 were named Regeneron Science Talent Search Scholars for their original scientific research. They represent two of the four winners in the state of Ohio and were among 300 students nationwide to receive the semifinalist award, one of the highest honors a high school student can receive in science!
