The US Speech & Debate Team, always a fast-talking force to be reckoned with, has been ultra successful this year. A team of 12, the largest yet, will be competing at the National Speech and Debate Association (NSDA) Tournament in mid-June. US is one of the largest teams competing at nationals from Ohio; this is especially notable given that so many of our area rival schools have much larger teams.
Good luck to these students who will be competing at Nationals, in events ranging from Humourous Interpretation to Lincoln Douglas Debate, and to their Head Coach James Lewis ’00:
Will Allen ’26
Zaid Anwar ’28
Karan Bahl ’26
Colin Broholm ’26
Gavin Chan ’28
Sahas Chhabra ’27
Alexander Orasanu ’29
Sebastian Perez ’26
Tejas Rajagopalan ’26
Nolan Samuels ’28
Anshul Sharma ’26
Adonis Wazni ’26
In addition to qualifying 12 students to nationals, the team also did very well at the Tournament of Champions. In the Silver Division, the Public Forum team of Zaid Anwar ’28 and Nolan Samuels ’28 advanced to the elimination round. The Public Forum team of Gavin Chan ’28 and Adonis Wazni ’26 advanced to the quarterfinals. Freshman Alexander Orasanu also competed in Informative Speech.
