Marketplace Studies Culminate with Food Bank Donation

US second graders finished their fall theme studies, “Traveling the 41st Parallel,” by donating $1,061 to the Greater Cleveland Food Bank and learning how their stewardship will help their community.

The students began their study in the US school garden. Next, they explored gardens and learned about markets in Northeast Ohio and discovered the need for food security in the Cleveland community. After this, the students took their learning globally to gardens, markets, and food sustainability around the world. As the culmination, they hand-made items to sell at their student-created market to benefit food security in the Cleveland community.
