CLE Food Bank Awards US Volunteers

The Greater Cleveland Food Bank recognized University School as its School Partner of the Year, the first time the Food Bank has recognized a school with this award at its Annual Meeting and Volunteer Recognition Ceremony on Oct 30.

“Since October 1, 2018, we’ve had over 200 University School students and staff volunteer over 1,000 hours of their time helping out on many different projects to support the Food Bank’s mission,” said Matt Jackson Food Bank Volunteer Experience Manager. “This isn’t the first year that University School has supported our organization with strong volunteer numbers, but it is the continuation of a long and growing partnership,” he said. “I couldn’t think of a more deserving partner.”

“Partnering with The Greater Cleveland Food Bank has been just as rewarding for our school community,” said Nicole Lawrence, University School’s Director of Community Partnerships.

“Fulfilling a certain number of volunteer hours each year is a requirement for our middle and upper school students,” Ms. Lawrence said. “It is nice to see how many of our students return to volunteer each month, and year after year. That is a testament to how wonderful the Food Bank staff and volunteers are to work with. They always make our students feel welcome and appreciated. Our school is honored to be recognized in this way, and we look forward to our continued partnership for many years to come.”
