New Chair Holders Announced

Head of School Mr. Patrick Gallagher announced three teachers as new chair holders, recognizing them for their creativity and commitment to their work. Named chair endowments at US allow the school to retain outstanding and dynamic faculty by providing additional support and professional development opportunities to its chair holders. University School has 18 funded endowed chairs.

Dr. Matt Foulds was awarded the James and Donna Reid Chair in History. In the announcement, Mr. Gallagher shared, "He generously shares ideas and advice with fellow teachers, working tirelessly to innovate and improve the History curriculum while always modeling an attitude of positivity and possibility in collaboration. He is an inspiration and role model to all." Dr. Foulds is a history teacher at the Upper School. 

Mrs. Ilene Frankel was awarded the W. Robert Simpson ’48 Chair in Entrepreneurship. Mrs. Frankel was presented the award for her "grit, creativity, and perseverance... her passion, expertise, and dedication in promoting understanding and appreciation of the American Entrepreneurial system."  Mrs. Frankel is the director of the Young Entrepreneur Institute at University School.

Mrs. Cathy Schreiber was awarded the W. Hayden Thompson Chair in Faculty Leadership. In presenting the award, Mr. Gallagher said, "Her kind nature, affirming support, and infectious enthusiasm are unparalleled. She is a respected, valued, and beloved leader in our school community." Mrs. Schreiber is the lead Kindergarten teacher and team leader for Junior K and Kindergarten.
