The Class of 2023 Commencement

It was a beautiful, sunny day to celebrate our 101 seniors at the 133rd Commencement of University School. Over 900 family members, friends, faculty, and staff gathered to wish our newest graduates well as they embark on their new adventures.

Congratulations to the Class of 2023!

From Mr. Patrick Gallager, Head of School:

Each year, during the Honors Day awards ceremony at the Hunting Valley campus, the Head of School presents the Head of School’s Award to the boy(s) who “in the eyes of the Head of School has made significant and unique contributions to the life of the school.” As I shared during Friday’s program, this year I decided to make an unusual choice.
Working with alumni in my role as Head of School, I get to know a great many graduating classes. There are those classes that spring to mind that loom large in our school history. I shared with seniors in recent weeks, I firmly believe the Class of 2023 will be another such class. Therefore, for their positive examples and spirited leadership, rebounding us all from one of the most challenging periods in history, I felt it made perfect sense to present the Head of School’s Award to the entire Class of 2023.
Sunday’s commencement provided a wonderful send-off for seniors orchestrated by Mrs. Tracy M. Dennis, Assistant to the Director of Upper School, with a keynote address from Mr. Marc Byrnes '72. It was a beautiful, sunny afternoon in Hunting Valley, and the over 900 beaming faces of family, friends, faculty, and staff in the Enos Courtyard made it even more memorable.
It is my pleasure to share with you highlights of the ceremony, accompanied by advice from our newest alumni – the Class of 2023 – to future US students.

Additionally, you may view the entirety of the proceedings here and view a photo of seniors in attendance at the Senior Breakfast organized by our University School Parents’ Association.
Congratulations to the Class of 2023!
