The 22nd Annual Spencer Lecture

Thank you to Carl Greppin ’83 who delivered this morning's 22nd Annual Spencer Lecture. Carl is Managing Partner of Transpac Access, a global supply-chain management firm.

Carl spoke of his experiences in Kyrgyzstan, and how the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, and the invasion of Ukraine by Russia on February 24, 2022, and the ongoing war there, have affected the citizens of Kyrgyzstan and its neighbors in Central Asia.

Carl graduated from University School in 1983 and from Princeton University in 1987. He received an MBA from University of Chicago's Booth School of Business and a PhD from Case Western Reserve University. He is an adjunct professor at John Carroll. For three years, he lived and worked in emerging market Asian countries such as India, Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Afghanistan. He lives in Shaker Heights with his wife Elizabeth, who graduated from Hathaway Brown, their daughter Katie who is a sophomore in college, and their son Chase, who is a senior at US.

Watch a recording of Carl's lecture here.

The Spencer Lecture series honors the life of US alumnus Mr. George "Twig" Spencer III ’69, the only known University School alumnus to perish in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
