Time Capsule Sealed in New Middle School Building

In a symbolic moment blending tradition with forward-thinking vision, University School Eighth-Grade Student Council representatives Jack Levy and Ruhan Chhabra recently placed a time capsule into the wall of the new Middle School building currently under construction on the Shaker Heights Campus.

Joined by Head of School Mr. Gallagher, Director of the Middle School Mrs. Arnoult, and Middle School Dean Mr. Fay, the students carefully selected items that their peers felt best represented the year 2025— our time, our school, our country, and our planet.

The time capsule project was a special opportunity for student leaders to participate in the historic reimagining of the Middle School. The new building, which will open to students this fall, is designed to elevate hands-on learning, community connection, and flexible collaboration—hallmarks of a US education.

While the exact contents of the time capsule remain a mystery to all but a few, one thing is certain: curiosity will grow over the next 100 years. For those eager to uncover what today’s students preserved, mark your descendants' calendars—May 20, 2125, promises to be quite the reveal.

Until then, the time capsule will remain quietly tucked away, a message from today’s boys to tomorrow’s.
