US Alumni Man of the Year

Richard A. Horvitz, Chairman of Moreland Management Company, is the recipient of the 2014 University School Alumni Graduate Award. Mr. Horvitz received the award for his outstanding service to the school and to the community at the annual alumni association dinner held last night at the Shaker Heights Campus. The event kicks off the school's 65th alumni reunion weekend.

Prior to co-founding Moreland Management Company, a closely-held private family investment office, Mr. Horvitz practiced law at Baker & Hostetler. He then worked for his family's operating businesses, which were sold in 1987.

A member of University School's class of 1971, Mr. Horvitz received his A. B. with honors in Economics from Princeton University and received his J. D. from Duke University School of Law. He is a member of both the Florida and Ohio bars.

A well-respected community leader and philanthropist, Mr. Horvitz is a Life Trustee of the Board of University School where he currently serves as a member of the Investment Committee. He is also a Life Member of the Board of Visitors of Duke University School of Law. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the Jewish Federation of Cleveland where he was formerly an officer as well as Chairman of the Finance and Investment Committee. Mr. Horvitz has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Children's Tumor Foundation since 1996, having also served as Chairman of the Board, and is currently an Honorary Director.
