The National Merit® Scholarship Program has recognized three University School seniors as Semifinalists in the 2017 competition. These students are among those who earned the highest scores on the 2015 Preliminary SAT (PSAT) test. The designation is the first step toward becoming a National Merit Scholarship winner.
The semifinalists are Scott Bowman, Neil Sehgal, and Adam Tropper.
About 16,000 students, approximately one-third of the 50,000 high scorers nationwide, have been chosen as Semifinalists, and 90 percent are expected to go on to become Finalists. About 7,500 will be selected as 2017 scholarship winners.
In addition, 12 seniors were recognized as Commended students in the 2017 National Merit competition. They are Gabriel Cohen, Herbert Crowther, Rohan Garg, Andrew Gilmore, Adam Gurary, Joshua Hunter, Charles (Ryan) O’Malley, Jackson Polish, Arjun Ramachandran, Dante Sudilovsky, Brandon Wang, and Peter Zukerman.
Twelve of the 15 Semifinalists and Commended students started their journeys at University School's lower and middle schools.
