The US Speech and Debate Team was ranked among the top 8% of schools nationwide by the National Speech & Debate Association.
US received this recognition because the team achieved a total of 200 or more degrees last year, and, as a result, earned membership in the Association's prestigious 200 Club. Students earn points and degrees in the National Speech and Debate Association's honor society based on competitive and service-related activities.
"This milestone is remarkable because it demonstrates outstanding commitment to teaching students essential life skills - including communication, research, listening, writing, and organization," according to the Scott Wunn, executive director of the National Speech and Debate Association.
At the Ohio Speech & Debate Association district tournament this past weekend, US debate head Coach Peter Paik was named the Cleveland District Coach of the Year.
