In 2014, I began my first year at University School, my nineteenth year as an educator. Never have I been so impressed by the warmth and energy that rose up to meet me when I joined the community. Our motto “Responsibility, Loyalty, Consideration” hums in every hallway: in the conversations of boys, in the classrooms of teachers, in the locker rooms of teams and coaches, and in the homes of our families. Our school lives its mission in every facet of school life: in our environment, boys of promise become men who lead and serve.
At University School the caliber of the faculty is like no other. Far beyond their incredible expertise in their subject is the depth and breadth of their passion for the entire educational experience. These men and women are constant and dedicated mentors of the boys in their care, guiding and inspiring them to be their best selves in and out of the classroom. They devote themselves to nothing but the strongest, most impactful and innovative practice of education. When I ask our alumni to comment on the most memorable part of their University School experience, the first answer is almost always the same: “My teachers.”
Born and raised in London, England, I have always valued the importance of cultural competency, inclusion and experiential learning. At University School, our boys have the chance to become global citizens and worldly learners both on and off our campuses. From theme-based learning in the Lower School, to Middle School character education, to lessons in global business ethics from local executives through the Entrepreneurial Institute in the Upper School, our boys are learning beyond the walls of the school, and becoming young men who flourish and thrive within and beyond our community.
Like you, I am a parent and my own decision to bring my sons to University School is validated every day. I see the mission of the school guiding and shaping my sons into their very best selves. It makes my heart joyful to see my own sons thriving in such a vivid and colorful way.
One of the great pleasures and privileges of my work is the chance to meet so many boys and their families. I invite you to come and visit us and experience University School in real time. Meet our dynamic teachers and spectacular students. See our amazing facilities. Whether your son is entering kindergarten, middle school, or high school, I am certain you will come to see that a US education is the best investment you will ever make in your son's life.
Our University School family looks forward to meeting your family!
