Spring Concerts Bloom

The Upper School Spring Concert, titled "The Music of Life," featured performances from A Cappella, Glee Club, and the Orchestra. The program included modern pieces, like Viva la Vida by Coldplay in an arrangement by Kingsten Lin ’25 and performed by US A Cappella, and a medley of music from Wicked, the musical and motion picture. The included Camille Saint-Saëns' Violin Concerto No. 3 featuring a captivating solo by Jason Klautky ’25. The Glee Club premiered a choral piece titled “Noise” by Aiden Kocian as part of University School's OPUS commission series that brings contemporary composers together with our ensembles to create new works. The evening was led by the always entertaining emcee, conductor, and Upper School Director of Music, Mr. Devon Steve ’13. Click to view the Upper School Concert Program.

The Middle School Spring Concert was filled with joy and modern and classic tunes that would've kept concert-goers guessing what would be next (if it wasn't written in the program). A real crowd-pleaser was the Fifth Grade Chorus performing Dance Evolution—a fantastic journey through decades of dance hits—arranged by Mark Brymer. The evening also featured performances by the Jazz Ensemble, String Orchestras, Concert Bands, and High Tops Choral Ensemble. The evening came together through the consistent and creative work of the Middle School boys and their Middle School music teachers, Mr. Mike Leone, Mr. Tom Mellino, and Mrs. Abi Dudzik. At the Lower School Spring Concert, under the direction of Music Teacher Mr. Scott Roether, third- and fourth-grade members of the Flying Mallets performed "Clocks" on xylophones, glockenspiels, and metallophones.
