Track & Field State Success

An impressive highlight of the season was Thomas Lodowski ’27 setting a new DII State record in the 800-meter run (1:49.85) at the OHSAA District Championship. This run ranked him No. 16 nationally for the season and became the sixth-fastest 800-meter time ever recorded by an Ohio high school athlete!  

US Track & Field ran, jumped, threw, and pushed their way through another very successful season. The team competed in OHSAA Division II, which expanded from three to five divisions this year. 

In a dense regular-season schedule, they competed at the premier regional invitationals across Northeast Ohio, and captured the championship crown at the Dick Beeler Invitational. Several Preppers advanced to the Regional and State Championships.

At the State Championship, Thomas Lodowski '27 finished second in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:49.92, while Nathanaël Honvou '28 placed second in the pole vault, clearing 15 feet, 8 inches.

The team was led by captains Ethan Ansevin '26,  Charles Gilson '26, Alex Schott '26, and Travis Skinner '26. The team was coached by Erik Bunce, Gabe Richmond, Nathan Taylor, Michael Beros ’22, Gabe Laskey ’19, and Tremayne Harvell.
