This year, the Lower School created a new enrichment opportunity for our boys: The Fourth Grade Speaking Showcase.
Each participant crafted an individual response to the prompt, “How Do I Want to Change the World?” and spent weeks refining, polishing, and practicing his speech. The process included meaningful feedback from alumni visitors as well as current members of the Middle School Speech & Debate team. The topics were varied and authentic, ranging from reducing pollution and saving money to conquering arachnophobia.
The program was developed and led by Mr. Jeff Pierce, K–8 Enrichment Specialist, who supported the boys throughout this process. We also celebrate the Class of 2034 participants: Stone Burnett, Kalin Chatterjee, Landon Dooley, Patrick Gerds, Quinn Johnson, Johnny Leland, Dominic McCants, Jake Michael, Henry Mitchell, Emmett Petrosky, Max Rieder, Andrew Sutter, and Scout Wachter.
Public speaking is an important part of every boy’s experience at University School, and the Lower School is proud to offer this program for our boys.
