Debate Team Success at State

It was a great weekend for the US Debate Team which finished 9th of 69 teams at the The Ohio High School Speech League state competition this weekend. University School won both the Lincoln Douglas and Public Forum debates, the first time that a school has won both championships in the same year.

In Public Forum debate, the team of Will Frankel '17 and Akshat Chowksey '18 advanced to the final round where they won on a close 3-2 decision to claim the state championship. In Lincoln Douglas debate, Omer Ashruf '17 and Andrew Gilmore '17 advanced to the final round and were named state co-champions. Ashwin Veeramani '18 advanced to the semifinal round in International Extemporaneous Speaking, finishing in the top 12 in the state.
