Junior Places as National Finalist for Science Research
Ashwin Veeramani '18 presented his science research at the Ohio Junior Science and Humanities Symposium and placed fifth, earning a trip the national competition in April in San Diego.
The title of Ashwin's paper is The Role of Hair Bundle Protein 7 (HBP7) In the Auditory Hair Cell of Zebrafish in Mediating Hearing Function. Ashwin is an Anderson Scholar in Science and studies under Dr. Brian McDermott at Case Western Reserve University.
David Buchinsky '17, Graham Lane '17, and Rahul Jagetia '18 also presented their scientific research at the state symposium. Nearly 100 students presented papers and posters to compete for the five spots to attend the national contest.
The Junior Science and Humanities Symposia Program is jointly sponsored by the United States Departments of the Army, Navy, and Air Force, in cooperation with leading research universities throughout the nation.
