4th Graders Create Living Museum

Mrs. Marianne Kloboves’ fourth graders shared their “living museum” with parents and peers last week. The living museum is a capstone project built by the students that showcases everything they have learned to date about whaling and Nantucket. As visitors walk around the reconstruction of Colonial Nantucket, the students inform viewers about their professions and interdependence of the whaling community.

In Fourth Grade, social studies is taught through the integrated theme study of Whaling - A Way of Life.  This in-depth study provides experiences for boys to become deeply involved in the study of a particular topic, allowing them to take ownership of their learning.
